
What is Myofascial Massage?
Myofascial release (or MFR) is a non-invasive soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. By manipulating the body 'stocking' of connective tisue that wraps all the parts, it is possible to acheive deep body realignment and release. Fascia is moved counter to the direction of habitual pull to restore easeful standing and grounded mobility.

WHY DOES MY BODY HURT?
There are two ways a muscle can become tight and/or painful. A muscle can become "locked short", for instance, when you've been walking a long way and your calves are tight and contracting. Or when you've been hitting the gym doing bicept curls and now your chest is all bulgy. When a muscle is locked short, working directly on the muscle body to easy tonicity (tension) in a great way to acheve lasting relief from discomfort by restring healthy resting tone.
That said, a muscle can also be "locked long"; when muscles on one side of the body are contracting, the opposing muscle is forced to extend, and at a certain point, that muscle will lock down to prevent itself from being pulled too far and damaged. Now when a muscle is locked long, simply relaxing it won't do the trick. While softening the muscle will relax and lengthen it, providing temporary relief, the extra length will soon get used up by the continued pull of the opposing musculature and the locking pain will so, too soon, return with furvor!
WHY ARE MY MUSCLES PULLING ON EACH OTHER?
Let me ask you? If I told you to make yourself comfortable, what you do? Sit down, right? Crazy eons of evolution in creating upright bodies and we spend most of our time on our butts. :\ working at desks, driving our cars, texting on our phones... sit by sit we are destroying the joyful ease of standing.
WHY IS SITTING SO BAD FOR THE BODY?
By constantly contracting the front of the hips and chest, the pull on the shoulders, neck and low back is imense and prolonged. It takes only 20minutes for the body to begin laying down extra connective tissue to support a seated posture. That means, every 20 minutes you sit makes the seated posture more a part of your permanent(ish) structure, AND ever 20minutes, standing naturally aligned in standing becomes that much harder.
WHAT DO WE DO!?
I said permanent(ish), beacause with regular structural body work, it is possible to reverse the misalignment caused by sitting and other repetative behaviors. by working the body directionally, in opposition to the habitual pull, a neutral alignment and easful state in gravity can be returned to your everyday being.
